The sailing school maintains a fleet of more than 50 boats, including sailboats and safety boats. We have a wide range of sailboats to suit a variety of needs. Youth sailors are introduced to sailing with Prams and Optimists. Prams are simple to operate and provide plenty of opportunities to grow in skill and confidence.
As the students progress, they will move up to Optis. This boat is the perfect introduction to racing as it combines a similar feel to the Pram, yet begins to introduce the students to more advanced sailing controls and techniques. For junior high school sailors, we have 420’s, a two-person dinghy that carries spinnaker and trapeze. We also have a Catalina 27 & J24, a 24-foot keelboat.

Megan started sailing when she was five years old on her family's boat. While in junior sailing, Megan competed at the national level, attending the orange bowl, 420 midwinters, and the youth championship. While attending Old Dominion University, Megan was on the varsity sailing team all four years, qualifying for team race nationals. She graduated from ODU with a BFA in Graphic Design.
Since college, Megan has competed in numerous regattas, such as the Chicago NOOD and Verve Cup. In which she has raced many classes of boats such as J30s, J80s, Flying Tiger 10s, and Vanguard 15s.
