The America’s Cup World Series, sponsored by Louis Vuitton, is a premier racing circuit that displays some of the world’s best sailors. There will be races this summer in Chicago, hosted out of Navy Pier, just south of Sheridan Shore Sailing School. The sailors participating in the America’s Cup races will be sailing AC45 catamarans, which are 45 foot-long, double-hulled boats that foil, and have rigid, wing-like sails. This year, Louis Vuitton is bringing the Endeavour Program to Chicago, which educates young sailors in STEAM: the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics behind the sport of sailing. The Sheridan Shore Sailing School has been provided with the unique opportunity to participate in the Endeavour Program, with local sailors from the sailing school sailing downtown near Navy Pier in small catamarans on Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, during the intermissions of the America’s Cup Chicago races.
Sailing in the event from the Sheridan Shore Sailing School are Lexi Chigas, Lily Allen, Noah Barton, George Barton, Zachary Hernandez (Sailing Director) and Sammy Stoeber (not photographed).
